About us

Hospital Profile

Established in 1980, by Padmabhushan Dr. M. C. Modi, the hospital functioned as a camp based hospital. Over the years, serving lakhs of poor and needy patients with eye ailments, mainly the curable form, the hospital came to be established to render full time specialized services in the field of ophthalmology. Now, the hospital has been fully equipped with all new and sophisticated equipment to serve the needy, using advanced diagnostic and treatment methods. The hospital is fully and innovatively been networked and super specialty eye departments have been established in keeping with new and emerging trends in eye care. All forms of ophthalmic services are now available at affordable price. From common eye problems to rare sight-threatening diseases, Dr.Modi Eye Hospital provides general eye care and seven subspecialty services, attracting patients from throughout the State of Karnataka and outside. The sophistication of care delivered at Dr.Modi's is evidenced by the following descriptions of the activities performed by our specialty services:

Cataract and Primary Eye Care(CPEC) : is the hub of Dr. Modi Eye Hospital.

Contact Lens:  evaluates and fits patients of all ages and medical conditions with the latest in cosmetic and therapeutic contact lens technology.

Cornea clinic: is set up for corneal transplants and the treatment of corneal diseases.

Glaucoma clinic treats patients with the newest lasers and surgical techniques and drug therapies available. The Glaucoma Service Diagnostic Laboratory provides advanced computerized techniques to uncover the earliest signs of glaucoma in suspected patients, as well as chart the progression of the condition, including the slightest change in the optic nerve, in patients who have already been diagnosed.

Oculoplastic Service: is one of the best of its kind. Oculoplastic surgery is a subspecialty of ophthalmology that focuses on problems surrounding the eyeball (the eyelids, the orbit and the lacrimal system) as well as artificial eyes (ocular implants). The Service also includes cosmetic surgery.

Paediatric Ophthalmology: Service treats the unique ocular problems of children, including strabismus (crossed eyes) and amblyopia (lazy eye). Surgeons also perform cataract surgery on infants.

Retina Service provides for diagnosis and treatment of all vitreoretinal diseases, including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, uveitis, and others.

Ophthalmic Imaging: is equipped with new and state of art equipement to image the eye, both in analogue and digital format. External, retinal, fluorescien angiographic, ICG angiographic, 3D Ultrasonic and Ultrasound Biomicroscopic imaging are all efficiently undertaken.
